The Bar

Order at the bar. Stay as long as you like.

"Hook Norton Brewery is ten minutes up the road.
On a clear day you can smell the malt."

Draught ales from Hook Norton and beyond, lagers, ciders, and spirits we've thought properly about. The bar doesn't take reservations — walk in, find a seat, and let the evening look after itself.

The kitchen turns out food you'd recognise — done well, at prices that don't require a special occasion. Eat in the bar, the restaurant, or the garden. We'll bring it to wherever you've settled.

Eat Anywhere
Bar, restaurant, or garden — the food menu is available throughout. The garden is open weather permitting.
Sister Venue
The Farrier's Rest is a sister pub to the award-winning Woolpack in Bourton-on-the-Water. The Bell at Chipping Campden is also under the same family.
The Restaurant

The room is new. The approach isn't.

The restaurant finished its refurbishment in November 2025 — a proper new room, not just a coat of paint. The food is what it's always been: straightforward English cooking done without shortcuts, at prices that don't ask you to dress up to justify them.

Whether it's a quiet Tuesday lunch or a long Friday evening, a gluten-free menu is available and the kitchen works around intolerances without making a performance of it.

The restaurant is bookable. The bar is not. If you'd like to guarantee your table, use the contact form below.

Accommodation

Four rooms. Each one named after the craft that built this town.

For generations this corner of the Cotswolds ran on skilled hands — the farrier, the cooper, the miller, the wheelwright. The four rooms upstairs carry their names.

01
The Farrier
The farrier kept the horses moving and the farms working — without him, nothing else did either. Ask us at the bar for rates and availability.
B&B
02
The Cooper
Coopers made the barrels — for ale, for cider, for grain. Every inn and farmhouse in the county depended on their work. A trade that's quieter now, but not forgotten.
B&B
03
The Miller
The mills worked the rivers here for centuries — grinding grain, pressing oil, fulling cloth. The sound of the wheel is gone. The valley still carries the shape of it.
B&B
04
The Wheelwright
The wheelwright built the wheels that moved everything — cart, coach, and plough. Before the railway, the road was everything, and the wheelwright kept it turning.
